The elementary school’s health and wellness program is a three-tiered project designed to promote healthy lifestyle attitudes and behaviors within the school community. The project aligns with the Comprehensive School Health guidelinesl and puts the student at the centre of all decisions related to school health promotion. The wellness initiative is contingent on the following three pillars of health:
- Healthy Eating
- Active Living
- Positive Social Environment
By using the comprehensive school health model, the school community and outside agencies are able to work collaboratively to achieve provincial health and wellness outcomes.
Here at Cardston Elementary School, collaborative focus groups in each wellness area have worked diligently to ensure that over time, the healthy attitudes and behaviors of the school community will be lifelong, sustainable, and embedded into the ethos of the school.
